Happy Chinese New Year!
The song was from a Martial Arts movie which I saw as a kid and I finally found it. Woot! Hehehe.
滄海一聲笑!
The first version I found came from that Movie that I saw as a kid:
This is a second version of the song:
By the way, this song was stuck in my head since I saw that movie as a kid. D'oh

Tutorial: Formatting a HD and Installing an OS in 3 steps!
Yeehaw! I finally succeeded in simplifying the process from "less than 20 steps" to only 3 steps. So here's my tutorial on formatting a HD and installing an OS in 3 steps followed by some additional tips to secure your new installation. XD
Formatting a HD and Installing an OS in 3 steps:
1) A:\> fdisk
2) A:\> format C:/u
3) Install the Operating System and your own essential programs
Additional Tips to Secure your New Installation:
Very Important Security updates for Win XP:
If you have all the service packs installed already then there is only one important update for now:
KB958644 (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS08-067.mspx) The update that should prevent the Conflicker virus/worm from infecting your computer.
Strongly reccomended antivirus and firewall programs:
These programs worked for me. You might decide to try something else, which is entirely up to you. But it is strongly reccomended to install an antivirus and a firewall.
AVG Free Antivirus
(http://free.avg.com/)
Comodo Firewall
(http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/download_firewall.html)
List of some unusual stuff that the Windows XP programmers came up with, which I strongly believe should be disabled and stopped for your own safety:
These are found in: Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Services
To stop these programs from running: First select disabled from the drop down menu. Next click stop and then click apply.
1) Remote Registry Properties (Local Computer)

Service name: Remote Registry
Description: Enables remote users to modify registry settings on this computer. If this service is stopped, the registry can be modified only by users on this computer. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
Dependencies: It depends on RPC (Remote Procedure Call) which is an essential part of Windows XP. But no program depends on it to run, therefore it's safe to stop this program.
Do I want to allow a remote user to modify the registry settings on my computer? The answer is NO! Which is why I have disabled this.
2) Remote Desktop Help Session Manager

Service name: RDSessMgr
Description: Manages and controls Remote Assistance. If this service is stopped, Remote Assistance will be unavailable. Before stopping this service, see the Dependencies tab of the Properties dialog box.
Dependencies: Same as above.
I believe this enables other users to hack your comp if you trusted the wrong person to give you remote assistance. Furthermore I have never needed remote assistance from any user. Therefore I have disabled this as well.
While you are modifying the comp you might also want to disable these:
These are found in: Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> System
1) Remote tab.

First click on the Advanced options box and unclick the box next to "Allow this computer to be controlled remotely."
Set the Invitations timeframe to a maximum of 1 minutes in case by some miracle someone actually still managed to hack in - 1 minute might be enough for any hackers to do some damage anyways, but unfortunately it's the lowest setting available :-(
Next click on the Select Remote Users box and make sure there is no one listed in the box.
Last but not least, uncheck both boxes beside "Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer" and "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer"
2) Advanced tab.

Click on the Settings box under startup and Recovery and unclick "Automatically restart" since you really need to see the BSoD (Blue Screen of Death) to read the error messages whenever the system reboots itself. If the box is ticked the system will automatically reboot itself without displaying the BSoD/error message - You won't have any idea what caused the reboot. Is it because the system was overheating? Paging file error? Basicly the error message will give you a idea of what caused the error so you can fix the problem. Otherwise it will happen again.

Azno's 1st NanoWrimo Idea
NanoWrimo is the National Novel Writing Month contest and it is held in November every year. Here is the official website of the contest. Apparently it's been going on for ten years now and even though it says "National" and seems to originate in the US, it is a worldwide contest that anyone can join. I wish I had found out about this sooner. It sounded like fun.
This year I plan to enter the NanoWrimo contest and actually complete it. The rules of the NanoWrimo contest says that the writers can't start writing till November but they're allowed to come up with ideas as early as they want to. Each entrant must write a novel with a minimum word count of 40,000 words in 25 days from the 1st to 25th of November. The last 5 days would be used for judging apparently. That's tough but if by some miracle I actually manage to finish this challenge I plan to continue my studies up to a Ph.D level in some field in the future. Like maybe when I'm 40 years old =p As for the major it will probably be Aerodynamic Engineering or some other engineering or tech related field. =)
I don't plan to write a songfic which is a fictional story that is combined with the lyrics of a song. But instead, I will probably write a fiction based on the inspiration I get from listening to a song. This song is similiar to my favorite song "Everybody's Free to wear sunscreen" by Baz Lurhman and is now my 2nd favorite song. It inspired me to want to take up the NanoWrimo contest and its a song that was sung in 2000 by Lee Ann Womack and titled "I Hope You Dance (The Right Way)":
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..........
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance,
Livin' like me, takin' chances, but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake, but it's worth makin',
Don't let some Hell bent heart leave you bitter,
If you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years
and wonder where those years have gone.)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years
and wonder where those years have gone.)
Here's a video of the Brian Rawlings Mix of this song from YouTube:
Thanks to Lee Ann Womack for a very positive and inspirational song. Hehe. Its no wonder that it became a hit in 2000. =)

Goodbye Gil Grissom
Apparently CSI Level 3 Supervisor Gil Grissom has left the CSI Vegas team because the actor William Petersen left the show. Which was too bad since Grissom was my favorite character in CSI Vegas.
FOOTBALL!!! Chinese New Year and my birthday
FOOTBALL!!!
I like football in every form (I should have become a professional football player but I don't have the chance. Dangit!! Grrr!) That said, as you should know from my profile I'm a staunch supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers (American Football) and Arsenal (British Football). So here are some awesome updates on my two favorite teams:
American Football:
Steelers Wins the Super Bowl!
The Super Bowl XLIII match happened on the 1st February 2009 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida.
Pittsburgh Steelers beats the Arizona Cardinals 27 - 23
Go Steelers!
British Football:
Arsenal hires a new Gunner!
Andrei Arshavin signed the deal with Arsenal to join the team until 2012. I believe the 27 year old Russian player will become an asset to my favorite team. I hope we can beat Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and all the other football teams to become #1 again.
Go Gunners!

Chinese New Year
This year is the year of the Ox. Last year was the year of the Rat. On the morning of the first day of Chinese New Year last year, I dented and punched in the cover of the old keropok tin right into the big tin when closing it up - I didn't realise how powerful I was. That night I broke a knife while chopping stuff up for frying - A piece of the kitchen knife splintered off while I was chopping up stuff: Again because I was more powerful than I realised since I was not trying to damage anything. As a result, I had extremely bad luck for the entire rat year. The broken knife is still in the kitchen. I wish my Mom would buy a new one. That way, I don't have to be reminded of the incident whenever I see said knife in the kitchen.
This year I avoided opening the keropok tin on the first day of the Chinese New Year and I used my knuckles instead of my fist to pound the cookie and keropok tin covers back on. I also avoided the kitchen like the plague so I didn't break anything. Hopefully I will NOT have bad luck like last year again. 2008 was actually the worst year I've ever had in my entire life. Dangit!
I am short and lanky instead of tall and muscular. I probably wouldn't have been able to break stuff without trying if I had learned Judo and QiGong instead of Taekwondo and Wushu. ROFL much?!

Birthday:
My birthday was last weekend and I'm now 29 years old. I ate 2 burgers from McDonalds and drank 3 cans of beer: 1 Guinness Stout and 2 Anglia Shandy. I was trying to make a Black and Tan that should have a dark layer at the bottom and a light layer at the top. But apparently Guinness Stout is lighter than Anglia Shandy - I poured the Stout first then the Shandy, but the darker Stout floated up to through the lighter Shandy layer. (+1 count failed non-technical experiment. +2 count failed non-technical experiment actually since I tried to create a Black and Tan twice and failed both times. Heh)
I got a book about Aircraft with Aircraft specifications and pictures but it did not have jet engine plans which was what I needed. Now I'll have to figure out how to make jet engines from the ground up. I would like to attempt to build an aircraft that's better than anything currently in existence. Aircraft aerodynamics is not a problem - I have figured that out and built the prototype of the aircraft body a long ago. Unless my Mom threw it away, the prototype is probably mothballed somewhere in the house. But I have it in permanent storage up here so the prototype don't matter. *Taps own head/braincase*. The prototype can always be recreated. XD

Whoa?! My first ambition was to become a Four Star General too!

Ann E. Dunwoody became the first female four star general in the US Military. Hooah! Apparently there were other female generals in the US army - But none of them had reached the rank of four star general until now. Gen. Dunwoody is 55 years old and has served for 33 years in the army. Like most career military officers, she comes from a long lineage of people who served in the military. There was a Dunwoody in the military since the Civil War in the 1800s. Her father, 89-year-old Hal Dunwoody was a decorated veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. Wow! Impressive!
That said, I doubt her family pulled strings so she could get where she is now; But she could have influential and powerful people in her network and knowledge of how the system works that made it easier for her to achieve the rank than officers who don't come from a military family. She even outranked her husband Craig F. Brotchie, a retired Colonel who only served in the air force for 26 years. XD.
